The show was a LOT of work to do, but so much fun. The feeling I had seeing all my work on display in the little world I created for it and sharing it with a whole new audience of smart, interesting people who love printmaking and paper as much as I do is hard to describe. I had wonderful conversations, made new friends and learned a lot about the people who are responding to the work I'm doing with Heartell.
Since the show, there are about 50 stationery shops, bookstores, museum gift stores and boutiques carrying Heartell cards and prints across the US and Canada (see the expanded stores list here to find one in your area!). I also released new cards, boxed notes and lots of prints at the show. Scroll down to see photos of them in the booth, or see what's new in the shop here.
The theme of the booth was "A Quiet Place," inspired by this new friendship card.
I finally got a chance to organize the photos from our fun market in December. Many thanks to our wonderful vendors
Lucky Horse Press, Alisa Floral Design, Art in Chaos, The Gift Fox, Manny's Sister, Flynn &King, Sarah Nicole Phillips, btw Ceramics, Mactaggart Jewelry, TRIME, Wearskate Jewelry, Christine Joy Design, Authorized to Work in the US Press and of course our awesome DJ Colleen Crumbcake of Sugartown Industries.
We are planning another popup at Halyards and we've got a great lineup this year as well as a great DJ! I'll be posting a full vendor list soon, but for now make sure to mark your calendar for the most fun way to get your shopping done and enjoy an afternoon of seasonal drinks and tunes.
My friend Kat Chamberlin is a wonderful photographer and she took some great shots of our pop-up sale at Halyards in Brooklyn last month, so I thought I'd share.
It was such a fun day! Thanks again to all our vendors and visitors!
The holiday sale at Halyards in December was lots of fun and I'm happy to share that I'm partnering with a similar group of local artists to host another pop-up there on May 10. A couple of the artists who participated in December will be back: Erin Molitor of owl&bone and Mahalia Stines of Manny's Sister will be selling beautiful jewelry and textiles, respectively. We also have a couple of new friends in the mix: Brooke Winfrey of BTW Ceramics lives and works here in Brooklyn, and we'll have special guest Beth Cyr coming all the way from Athens, Georgia and bringing her handmade nature-inspired jewelry (made from recycled metals!) to share with us Yanks.
And of course, I'll be selling cards and prints. In fact, the new Heartell Press Spring Collection will make its debut at the pop-up! I've been working on cards for celebrations, including birthdays, new babies and mother's and father's day, all printed by hand on my new letterpress. I hope to see you at Halyards on May 10! You can RSVP and share with friends on the facebook event if you like.
