Notes from the Studio

Dear friends and supporters of Heartell Press,

I'm writing today to share some exciting news!

Next month, my husband, Eric, and I and our two children are moving across the country to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State to live closer to my Dad (the boys call him Poppy) and his partner, my mother-in-law and my two brothers-in-law and their families who also live in Sequim. My little brother and his family live in Portland, Oregon, so we'll be closer to them too.

This summer, as the Indiana sunshine pours in through the open door of our studio, the Heartell team has made a delicious decision. We want to tantalize your taste buds and share some of our treasured recipes with you! And what better way to kick things off than with a delightful summer drink?

Last week we released our brand new collection of letterpress greeting cards, and today we are going behind the scenes and sharing the first installment in a series all about the inspiration behind the new designs. 

Botanic gardens are some of my favorite places to be and a visit to a new one (or an old favorite!) never fails to inspire new designs.

Every year on the first Saturday in May, printmakers all over the world make prints and share with one another about their process. I love this opportunity to see what other artists are making and getting to see all the wild variety within the medium of printmaking.

In honor of this year's celebration, we are offering a glimpse behind the scenes at how we work with color in our relief printmaking studio.
